What is it
A-Level trigonometry moves beyond GCSE to trigonometric identities, solving equations over a given range, and working with the reciprocal trig functions (secant, cosecant, cotangent).
Why it matters
Trigonometric identities are the algebraic toolkit used throughout calculus involving trig functions, and they appear constantly in mechanics, further maths, and physics beyond the exam itself.
Exam tip
Keep a reference sheet of the core identities (like sin²θ + cos²θ = 1) visible while practising until they're second nature — most trig equation questions are solved by spotting which identity simplifies the expression, not by raw calculation.
