What is it
GCSE Foundation graphs cover plotting and interpreting straight-line graphs, real-life graphs (like distance-time and conversion graphs), and finding gradients and intercepts from an equation or a graph.
Why it matters
Real-life graph questions test whether you can translate a written scenario into a visual model and back again — a skill that's directly useful well beyond the exam, in reading any chart or graph in the news or at work.
Exam tip
On a distance-time graph, a flat (horizontal) section always means the object has stopped moving, not that it's moving slowly — this is one of the most commonly misread features on the whole paper.
