What is it
Basic statistics at KS1 means collecting simple data (like favourite fruits in the class) and representing it in pictograms and simple block diagrams that a child can read and interpret.
Why it matters
This is a child's first encounter with organising real information into a visual form — the seed of every bar chart, graph and data table they'll meet from GCSE right through to university.
Exam tip
Turn it into a game — count how many red, blue and green toys are in a toy box and draw a simple picture chart together to show the results.
