What is it
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) structures the content of a webpage — headings, paragraphs, images. CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) controls how that content looks — colours, layout, fonts.
Why it matters
Every website you've ever visited is built on these two languages underneath whatever framework runs on top. They're the most direct, visual way to see code turn into something real on screen.
Exam tip
Know the difference between an HTML tag and a CSS property cold — a surprising number of marks are lost simply mixing up which language does which job.
