What is it
Python is a programming language known for being readable and beginner-friendly — its code looks closer to plain English than most languages, which is why it's the most common first language taught in UK schools.
Why it matters
Python is used far beyond the classroom — in web development, data science, and AI. The habits you build now (clear variable names, testing as you go) carry directly into GCSE and beyond.
Exam tip
Get comfortable with Python's exact syntax for input(), print(), and basic loops before any assessment — marks are often lost on small syntax slips (missing colons, wrong indentation) rather than the logic being wrong.
